How many times have you picked up a packaged 'kids' granola bar and put it right back down due to awful ingredients and insanely high sugar? For me it's a lot... and it's sad because bars are so helpful to me as a mom with kids who need quick, healthy snacks! I have a solution and your Wee Cooks can customize the flavor!
Granola Bars where you get to choose the ingredients! 🌰 Start with this basic starter recipe and add what you like from dried fruit and seeds and nuts! We add chocolate chunks because...well, we basically add chocolate wherever we can. 🍫
Also, it's so easy and cheap! Here you go:
In a bowl, combine:
1 1/2 cups nut or seed butter
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup coconut oil.
1 1/2 cups oats
Dash of salt
Add any extras you want which can include but is not limited to:
Cinnamon
Chocolate chips
Dried fruit
Ground flax
Chia seeds
Sesame seeds
Stir well. Scoop and flatten in a casserole dish. Cover and freeze for 30 mins. Pull out and cut into desired size bars! Store in air right Ziploc or Tupperware in the fridge. Pull out and enjoy as needed!
☆Your Wee Cooks can:
-Measure and add ingredients
-Stir!
-They can help you roll batter into balls to store that way in the fridge!
